I would agree with Stoo that disagreeing with a doctor can be a good thing, and I also have experiences of this, often it can be a good thing to seek a second opinion. However we are not talking about disagreeing with one doctor and seeking a second opinion, we are talking about disagreeing with a whole body of medical opinion.
Stoo, I think you are factually incorrect in implying that there is no difference in effectiveness between the single and triple vaccine (I definitely had mumps as a child and I'm pretty sure I had measles as well). In the year before MMR was introduced, and single vaccines were being used, there were 90000 cases of measles in the UK, leading to 16 deaths (can't remember if I can post links here, got the stat from the BBC anyway).
