Hmmm. Googled on this to try and get more data. Only 'reliable' news source with an article I could find on this was the BBC, and that had nothing more to say than the article above. Which seems a little suss to me...

Anyway, I can kinda see that there maybe an ecological issue with over use of Arabias abundant supply of sand. But right now I'm more tempted to think this is a joke story.
