Ah yes, it was the Clydach murders (Mandy Power etc). That case gets weirder and weirder. And then there was the Cardiff three (they have the right chappie behind bars now, thanks to new forensic techniques etc)...

Re Mandy Power - she wasn't the police wife, her lover (the first person to be detained in connection with the murder) was, as far as I recall.

Though I feel I must say that dodgy convictions probably happen in England too; we're not just a corrupt lawless backwater! Seriously though, every so often it seems a different force has wrongdoings uncovered in it - I think it was the West Midlands (serious crime squad?? I forget, it's my advanced age...) lot when I was a young 'un. Doesn't give you much confidence, does it? *sigh*

You're right of course, on all fronts. Apart from Trecker...

Yeah, got the wife relationship backasswards. And no South Wales is no worse than anywhere else. Admittedlt it was longer than I like to admit, but I knew of many incidents of blatant racism (there was a robbery? Nick the first black guy you find) in Leeds when I was growing up. And I've seen how bad the Metropolitan police can be first hand. I mentioned South Wales purely because the Panorama piece was fresh in my mind (despite its neo-tabloid tendancies). Any suggestion that the Druids were any more corrupt than their more civilized English neighbours was purely coincidental if inevitable.
