Oh, hot please.

I'm a little puzzled about the yorkshire pud thing though.

Everywhere else I've seen them, Yorkshire's are big puffy things.

However in my house, they are not dissimilar to gym mats & they taste lovely. How should they be served?

I can't believe I'm going to post this, but here goes!

Yorkshire puddings, should be served hot. They "should" be risen and be light golden brown. (NOT saying that mine are like that! ) I do find that my puds seem to be subject to quite a bit of sinkage if I don't make them right, so unless my mother is coming I tend to rely on Aunt Bessie

The trick is to not open the oven door until they are totally ready.

Otherwise they sink, like've dscribed.

Got to be hot, then the leftovers cold in sandwiches for the next day's lunch at work

Yorkshire puds should be golden and fluffy (and mine normally are - except the time we decided we wanted another drink and turned the oven down. Then they were the gym mat type. They have to be cooked at a high temperature or they don't rise properly).

What would everyone else have Yorkshire pudding with? I think it may be a Southern thing that you only have Yorkshire pud with roast beef because I remember having huge rows with housemates who insisted you had it with any type of roast, even Christmas turkey!

got to be hot. though at xmas always get cold ham joints. its odd with hot gravy!

also the pud thing, got to be home made, i hate those frozen one ewww all crispy no fluffyness pah!

I like it to be hot, but if theres gravy then it doesn't really matter cause the gravy makes a nice hot blanket for the meat. I just luvvvv Sunday roast especially with yorkie puds. My mate is supposed to be giving me lessons on how to cook a proper Sunday roast. I'm sure anyone can cook one, but not everyone can cook a good one.

Oh, this is making me think of a proper roast meal, as i go to microwave some lasagne cos i'm at work. No fair

MmmmmmmmRoast dinner. Meat has to be hot 'tho as Miss Edith said, the gravy warms it up anyway. Yorkshire puds have to be homemade and I like it when I get burnt ones, but only like them when we have beef. The beef must be nice and pink in the middle, not bloody 'tho like the way I like my steaks. Also I like to have apple sauce with my roast dinner 'cos I like it on my roast potatoes

Well just finished my Hot Roast dinner.

Roast chicken covered in garlic and herbs with roast potatoes and veg all covered with gravy. now off to sleep it all off.

Bang gioes the diet today.

vegetables - yes, lovely
roast or creamed potatos - yes
gravy - no
stuffing - no

I've even been known to have Branston Pickle with my Christmas dinner.

I have to go with the majority...My ma always gave me hot meat with my nice hot Sunday lunch..nowadays my Sunday lunch consists of a big bottle of water and a microwave burger

well... i have it hot as well... although in a sandwich or something cold's fine.

This is probably because my mum's really food-poisoning orientated (or something like that) so heats food up loads and loads to avoid salmonella, campylobacter etc. Therefore it's always boiling hot when we eat food at my house

The more veg the better!
I love bread sauce, and cranberry sauce, which is nice with veggi/quorn roast.

Nice big Yorshire filled with roasties, veg, stuffing and gravy.

Toad in the hole -(with veggie sausages) light and crisy at the top, with a bit of chewy stodgy stuff at the bottom, onion gravy, mashed potatoes, cabbage and baked beans!

Ohhhhhhhhhh I'm really hungry now Not good for the diet!

we have yorshire puddings with basically every meat on the sunday lunch...not just with beef

Sunday Roast - has to be hot.
All that yummy gravy, and apple sauce (I agree with whoever it was who posted earlier), ya just gotta have apple sauce!!!!!!

As to Yorkshire puds, mi mum always managed to burn them.
Then again, I can't cook 'em either

For sarnies - cold meat (usually bought from Tescos).
My other half loves pickle but I'm more of a tomato relish type girlie.

As to Sunday lunch meals in particular - unless I'm at a con, or out with the family, we don't tend to bother.
(Something to do with being a lazy so-and-so, plus also only feeding 2 of us, I can rarely be aresed!)

As to steaks = for me it's gotta have just stopped 'mooing' and for that matter, to have just stopped 'moving'!!!!!
(yum, all that juice!!!)

Oh well, back to bed for Aunty Aadvark, as I ain't feeling to brill at the mome.
Am also thinking of food and what we've got in the freezer (not a lot )

Although admittedly the tradition of sunday dinner has never taken off in our flat we never seem to bother with roast dinner unless we get invited to hubby's parents. And it always tastes better at someone else's house
