I meant to say that earlier. In my case I just wanted the *extra* precaution following the condom split. It put my mind at ease, although I'd imagine that the odds of me getting pregnant from one split would have been minimal, but I didn't want to take the chance.

Woman refused Pill in religion row....
I've just read this story in the Manchester Evening News.
I (and all my female colleagues) find this utterly outrageous! And I'm very suprised at ASDA's response. Quite frankly at a Pharmacy in a store such as ADSA there is no way that you shouldn't be able to buy something that they have in stock. I wonder if the reaction would ave been teh same if a Devout Muslim refused to sell Alcohol or the Devout Christian in question refused to work Sunday's.
I will probably be writing a letter to ASDA's head office to show my support for this woman.

How about if a Jehova's witness doctor refused to give a patient blood and the patient died becase of it.

can no one else see that to a deeply religious man (probably roman catholic) aborting even an embrio is a mortal sin? You would rather this man felt he was going to hell than send the lady in question to another pharmacy?
If he is a Roman Catholic (I dont know why you think that as they are not the only religion that opposes birth control.) then would he refuse to sell condoms, the pill ect as if hes that religious surely those are against his religion, and dont get me started on the problems the catholic church has caused in the the world through its stance on birth control.
And as for my morals Ive got some however skewed people may think they are.
I don’t think I do… What exactly to you consider to be a reliable contraceptive?
By Cat
I think we all know that any woman using a relible contriceptive wouldnt be asking for the morning after pill, dont we?
The Coil… In a lot of cases married women (or women in a stable long term relationship) choose this method of contraception because they don’t need to protect themselves from STI’s and it stays in place for several years. If a woman has had the coil removed for whatever reason it is entirely possible that they simply forgot about the fact in the heat of the moment. It may seem implausable, but I know someone this has happened to.
Contraceptive Injection… If you miss your repeat appointment even by a week the effectiveness of this method is greatly reduced. What if this woman was due her injection, but missed it. She had sex and then realised later that she was overdue. If she didn'’ want another child its not unreasonable for her to get the morning after pill.
Contraceptive Pill… I was always forgetting to take my pill. I don’t know any woman who hasn’t missed one pill at sometime or another (take for eaxmple the obsessive girl mentioned earlier in this thread who missed it once despite having a reminder alarm) just missing one dose can be dangerous. So maybe that’s what happened.
Condoms… You said that the barrier method is the only sure way of preventing pregnancy. Well I think you are wrong. Instances of condom splitting or being torn by nails/teeth etc are hardly rare. Just because it happened to you doesn’t mean that it doesn’t happen at all. And what about condom’s slipping during love making or semen being spilt in inappropriate places due to careless withdrawl?
So, I find your inference that this woman was sleeping around to need the morning after pill pretty stupid. Also as someone who has had to take the pill myself because of a condom slipping I also find it bloody offensive too. I'm astounded that you have such bigoted and narrow minded views about women and contreception.
What I also find suprising coming from Cat is the idea that any rape victim refused the morning after pill should have to re-live her ordeal to a male pharmasist in the middle of a supermarket just to try and get something she needed. I honestly thought you would have more sympathy with that situation. And did it ever occur to you that maybe this is precisely why her name hasn't been released? Maybe she is ashamed, just not for the conclusions you leapt to.
