I'd never personally get a tattoo cos it would look silly for one thing, and i'd more than likely decide that i actually don't like it after a week and be stuck with it. i also think they look nasty when they get wrinkley.

i think the odd tattoo on some people actually look ok (when they're wrinkle free) if they're not to big and garish and are something tasteful. whole limbs, or bodies for that matter, covered in them just look absolutely awful.

i have the same opinion with piercings too. i like ear piercings in the lobe, and maybe one up the top, but i don't like the whole ear covered. i would never get my tongue/eyebrow/nose/lip/nipple/unmentionables pierced cos i just don't like it. sometimes a discrete nose piercing is ok, but not generally.

i used to have my belly button peirced and that's one body piercing i actually like. i took mine out cos it was wonky and i was getting fat so it just looked wrong, but with the right figure, they can look nice.

this all goes for both men and women (maybe not the belly button bit though).

I tihkn theya re cool. I'd only get the odd one or 2 though. Its up to you what you wanan do with your body, but I kinda think people who go over the top don't look as good as they would with jsut a few tattoos and piercings.

A couple of tattoos are stunning but I'd say a whole body covered is disgusting. I think tattoo's are a great way of expressing yourself. I also think piercing's are brilliant, really sexy and another great way of expressing yourself. Tats and Piercings show that the person has balls, I think it also shows you a little bit of that person's personality and views.

I agree that less is most definitely more. I have two. A celtic dragon design (courtesy of Mamf) on my left upper arm and a chinese symbol on my right upper arm.

I may get one more when I can afford it but that would be it. As it is, no one can tell I have them unless I tell them or take my top off.

I haven't regretted them yet and, like a lot of people say, they are addictive once you get your first one.

i have had a total of 5 tattoos [one is covered up by another as it was too large to go anywhere else] each one [except the one on my left arm] all have meaning for me and even though the first one i got [18th birthday pressie and dedication to Drew Barrymore] is butt-ugly [tattooists fault not the design] i dont feel the need to go at it with a nail brush i dont regret it because it means a lot to me and to be honest i forget A LOT of the time that i actually HAVE them lol. i want two more and im happy. soooooooooo addictive lol

as a child my mom had my ears pierced i tried for one at the top of my ear [3 times in fact] but it wouldnt take. I use to really want either a tounge or eyebrow piercing but was way too scared [tattoos are fine they dont hurt but someone coming towards me with a needle and i'll run screaming ... after i knock them down ] i did manage to get my lip pierced but the backing kept rubbing against my gums and it hurt like hell, and after a paranoia trip it was taken out ... i had it for all of 9 hours lmao. [and despite using "freezing spray" i felt the pop when he stuck the needle through my lip funniest thing was i went out on the razz the night before [and really put the drink away] with some friends and i bled eeeeeverywhere including over the 666 jumper i was wearing heheheheh]

I got my eyebrow pierced about 2 and a half weeks ago(I think /) and I've not regretted it. It wasn't painful and it's gotten to the point where I don't even remember it's there anymore. Not sure if I would get a tattoo. It would have to be something exceptional as I'd hate to get one and then decide I don't like it 2 days later. As peeps have said less is more..I've seen people with body's covered in tattoos or piercings and it looks horrible.

I agree with Kat, soooooooooooo addictive. I got my first just before my 18th birthday. I got my other two later that year

I dont think i'll ever regret them. I regret where they are but thats a whole different thing I wish i'd put my smallest someone instead of wasting a whole arm and i wish i could see the one on my back.

I do agree that people with millions look silly if they are designs that you see over and over again but i just see it as another way of venting your art. Trust me, if i could tattoo some of the instullations ive done then id be covered

Piercings i dont go for. Not on me, i like my holes where they are thank you. But, i do like them on other people. My ex has his septum done (bit inside your nose) and i thought it was scary at first but then came to really love it. But again people having 'new' styled piercings are just trying to vent art and be indivdual.

I'm the kind of person who admires the really cool ones, would love one herself but is so needle phobic that its never going to happen. But i hate body piercings.. i'm sorry if i offend anyone here, but i think they're kind of ugly.

I don't regret any of my six tats as such but the first one I had done 16 years ago (*eep*) is fading and also takes the eye away from the one across my shoulder blades/ base of neck which I adore. I wouldn't get anymore done 'cos I'm getting too old

I like some piercings. Had my belly button done twice, again many years ago before it became cool to get it done when you're 14. I really had to search to track down a piercer. In my time I've had my ears done 7 times (including one at the top) but I don't wear earings at all now, my nipple was done for about 4 months but kept rubbing and going sore so I removed it, I had a piercing 'low down' about 5 years ago which is still there and last year I had a labret piercing below my lip. I had to take the labret out 'cos it was rubbing on my teeth and as I'd not long had them all straightened I took it out. I adored it 'tho.

I hate eyebrow piercings (I think it's when things become too popular I go off them) but I would love a tiny monroe. Can't see that happening 'tho

My opinion on these things is always changing. The thing is, it depends on the person and what they get done. Some people look amazing covered in tattoos and piercings and for others, one is too much. I've considered pretty much every type of piercing there is, but in the end I've only ever had my ears and nose done. I pretty much regret both (even though my nose closed up, it was just too much bother, didn't suit me and I was far too young) and I hardly ever wear earrings, though it is nice when I do, I hate having these holes in my ears. I was also going to get a tattoo last summer for my 18th, even got to the tattoo place, but in the end, decided to wait until I'd made a proper decision - was thinking of either a white rabbit on my back (because my name's Alice), but figured people would think I was a little too obsessed with the Matrix Or I wanted a big pair of angel wings down my back. Maybe that's kind of tacky, but I still love the idea, but for someone else, not me! I think my main problem with tattoos and especially piercings, is that skin is so beautiful on its own and putting holes in it ruins it. They don't age well either, but then, when I see kids in prams getting their ears pierced I just want to cry. So....I guess my point is, tattoos and piercings are fantastic when done right on the right person, but otherwise..meh...

I think it's digusting to get babies ears pierced. I was in a shop once (Claires Accessories or something - not even a proper jewellers) and a young girl was piercing a tiny babies ears (baby must have been a couple of months old) The poor little mite was screaming the place down. I had to leave 'cos it made me feel physically sick

I think its horrible to have babies ears pierced. Its so dangerous, they couldrip them out or anything.

my mom got mine done as a young kiddies and dont remember the occassion or the pain so no trauma here besides i found like tattoos once its done and the pain subsides [if there's pain] you can forget it's there which is prolly why i've never seen a small child tugging at its ears and crying. i do remember at an older age [still in primary though] one closed up so i asked to have it redone and it was the sound of the gun that made me jump rather then the piercing itself that was just sore for a little while.

We've had a couple of kids that have had incidents at different ages, one was only a 7 months and pulled it out and split the lobe, it was horrible.

It is its just the parents being sad and following a trend, theres no reason to do it to a young child they dont have a choice in it. Its wrong and franlky quite dangerous.

Yup- we had a case a few months ago where we had to take a wee tot to hospital because she had either swallowed or inhaled one of her little earrings. We couldn't see the thing, but the kiddie was howling the place down, so we reckoned it had gotten lodged somewhere.

It's ridiculous in my view. An eighteen month old kid doesn't want or need piercings. I honestly believe that people should have to wait until they are at least sixteen. I wasn't allowed to get my ears pierced until then (my parents were moderately strict about that kind of thing), and that meant that it was a conscious choice on my part. Mutilating your own baby should be illegal.

That's my view, anyway.

I think it's different with all different types of people. It all depends on knowing your strong points, like if you have a hooked nose it's no good drawing attention to it by having a piercing there.

I had my belly button pierced yesterday, and I love it, but I had it done there because it was one of the only places my mum will let me have done. When i'm 16 i'd love my nipple, lip, and some more on the ears done. The thing I like about piercings is they aren't permanent and as long as they're not ripped out/infected they generally don't leave an ugly scar.

Tatoos can look very good if they're tasteful, but really not my thing. I love Katies one on her back though
