If you put barb wire up by all accounts you have to notify the landlord and the police in case someone hurts themselves getting into your property (which is surely the whole point

The same applies to a tar substance you can put on the tops of garden walls which was something we were trying to persuade Dad to do at his HA house because of all the kids in the cul-de-sac climbing on top of his walls

So he didn't want the hassle trying to get it approved.

I have a similar cat problem, but they come after the fish. Has one stupid cat just sit there and look at me as I poured a big glass of water over it. Didn't even flinch

I forgot to tell you that Wilkinsons has some stuff (in their ant and pest section ) that is specifically for keeping cats/dogs at bay. Looked like a powder of some kind and was a couple of quid.

It's garlic.. go get some garlic cloves, crush em up, sprinkle them about and voila, no cats.. The garlic also lasts longer than the powder as it doesn't get washed away as easily

Well that's betting on the fact the kids either can A)Read .. or B)Don't rip the sign off the walls in the same destructive manner that they have started ripping mudflaps off cars

Get a narrowish tube (big enough for the cat to crawl into of course and 3x as long as the cat) greese the inside of the tube with ickey oily stuff which would be very shitty to get out of carpets / sofa's etc and put something the middle which the cat would really like.

Put this in your backgarden and if the cat comes in and grabs the stuff from the tube all the greese will stick onto it's furr. And when it goes inside via the catflap it makes a big mess inside the neighbours house...... lets just say that the cat will most likely not be allowed outside for a while

Btw this doesn't hurt the cat at all it will just make it very dirty but it gets a lovely snack as compensation

I don't want a cat *ick* The thought of an animal crapping in your garden, covering it over and then coming in and walking all over your kitchen surfaces makes me want to vomit That and the cat hairs too.

Wonder if *I* went peeing in the garden it would put them off..................

My cat was good he never climbed on any tables etc and wasnt allowed upstairs....and he is even better now cause I left him in Kent with the Ex heehee

This may sound harsh but...I'd suggest actually throwing things at it We have an ugly moggy come in to our garden to chase our cat and my mum revs up the car and chases it. We also thrown balls near it, but not at it so don't accuse me of hurting it! It'll get the idea, unless its dumb. That cat hasn't been back since. Or if you have other neighbours, throw over old food scraps to annoy them so the cat will stay round there as it'll think that's where all the food is.

we have one from next door that comes into our to crap and beg for food when i try to scare it from the house it just sits there and stares at me but when i last ran at it hissing the owner caught me and started shouting at me.
good thing the owner didnt catch me the time before when i toe-punted a baby ball at it while it was doing it's dirty business

I'll never forget when a nasty man put down some poison and my little kitten was just starting to get out the house and she was poisoned. Lets just say that later that week that man had to get his greenhouse fixed because some vandal smashed it all up.

i know what ya talking about deterrants, you can buy them at argos the eyes glow/sparkle like a cats does in the right night light it gives the impression [to other cats] that there's a real animal in ya garden. spray that with pepper you have sneezing cats [i dont think ive ever heard a cat sneeze actually lol]

Probably gonna get shot for this, put maybe you should try something a bit more aggressive? Such as something like one of those nerf guns? They might give the cat a bit more of a hint that it's not wanted.

Or you could try putting a treat with some laxitives in it out for the cat, have it crap all over it's owners house (of course this runs the risk of it crapping more in your garden)

Or a remote control car to chase it round the garden?

A loud recording of Andrew Lloyd Webber's cats played when ever it appears (this will however scare everyone else in the street away).

I can think of more, however these will cause harm to the cat and thaty will get me in serious trouble, cos Emma is a cat lover.

Of course if you catch the little beggar, you could always throw it over the fence... they do tend to leand on their feet....

Have you tried speaking to the neighbour T and telling her, as she/he might be able to help. Don't do the nasty things that thelostsailor suggested. Ok I guess because i'm a big cat lover I take a different view.

thing is babe talking to the owner wouldnt really do anything except, maybe, cause an arguement - no one likes being complained at some people get defensive when you even word things gently and politely [but i'm sure T wouldnt care she can hold her own scary crazy lady she is] but also what can be done to stop the cat what it does all day? short of either making it housebound or putting it on a leash everytime it wants to go out.

i say stick with the barbwire
