My Mum recently had laser treatment on her eyes yesterday, so i thought i'd post how she got on, seeing as i know several people here are interested.
In brief, she got on fantastically. The treatment took about 3 minutes in total and now she no longer has to wear her glasses. She could hardly see when she took off her glasses before (bear in mind that the doctors say although she might not have to wear them now, eventually she will do, as the eyes still deteriorate with age).
She went to Moorfields, which is an eye clinic in London. It was very expensive (about £1000 an eye) and it's due to go up in price. However, my Mum was determined to have the best doctor she could find. This doctor she went with sent details of everything he had done previously, all his qualifications and everything. Top notch service.
You can get it done cheaper, but better to be safe than sorry.
If anyone has any questions, i'll ask my Mum and post the answers.

Glad to hear your Mum's ok Maffrew.
Glad the op went well.
I'm long sighted, and only in one eye - so I'm a hopeless case really!

Astronut What I wouldn't give for a lasso and some crazy glue...
This conjures up images of old Ned Flanders - "what they didn't know then was that your eyes would fall out after ten years..."
Seriously, I hope it works well - I wish I could afford it!
Great to hear your mum came through the op with such good results, hon

Glad to hear it went well for your mum, mate. I had something similar done a few years ago
Good to hear everything worked well. I was thinking about getting my eys done aswell, I am *really* blind without my contacts. 2 months ago my doctor told me i couldnt wear contacts anylonger and as my glasses are really thick i searched for clinics in germany who offer laser treatment.
I found a few and got details, but now i am able to wear hard lenses and I'll wait a few more years.
If your mum paid 1000 pounds, Maffrew, it *is* cheaper than in germany. *All* clinics told me it would at least cost me 4000-5000 deutschmark (1400 pounds or more) per eye.
Could you give me an webadress of the clinic she went to ( if they have a website) than i could check it out! thanks
glad it went ok. when you think about it £1000 isn't all that much when you consider the amout you have to pay on new lenses and appointments at the opticians.
