I'd say more relevant than Madrid is Athens in the next few months. With the Olympics coming up, the last thing Greece needs is terrorists setting bombs off, which will undoubtedly scare away a large portion of the people that would otherwise travel to the games.

I hope security is tight, because a bomb inside somewhere like an Olympic stadium would do some real damage. I'm surprised terrorists haven't attacked sporting events already. A bomb in somewhere like Old Trafford during a big match would take out a lot of people.

No. There were arrests of 10 people in the Manchester area under the Terrorism Act, during the search of their house the police apparantly found Manchester United tickets (but no explosives or anything of the kind). The Sun (I think) took this a cue for a frontpage story saying that they had been planning to blow up Old Trafford during the Man Utd/Liverpool game.

There was rather less news coverage when the police released all of the suspects without any terrorism charges (although some were re-arrested on immigration-related matters).
