Unless I'm dying I'll pretty much come to work. I feel guilty at being off especially as I'm not confident that my team would be able to cope to well if I decided just to be off. Then again they've done really well over the last 3 weeks when I've been on a mixture of holidays/courses so perhaps I'm due a few sick days
Sickness time at - or rather off work
There's been so much in the papers recently about the ways companies are trying to lessen the amount of sick days they "lose" during a year.
The latest scheme is being arranged by a council by having a registered nurse take your sick call in the morning. Presumably this is to assess whether you are really worthy of a day in bed, or trying to fake illness (cue people probably reaching for health books to get symptoms right )
This certainly wouldn't deter me from calling in sick if I felt it necessary. Yet whenever I have needed to call in sick I get a cold shoulder effect and almost a disbelief as if I'm pulling a fast one . Unfortunately, I know my work will still end up on my desk so there would be no advantage to pulling a sickie and playing catch-up so there have been various stupid times I've crawled in with a headache for example and still not been acknowledged that I probably would have been better off at home
I was intrigued at what may prevent other people from just having that one day off sick when you really need it?
My workplace doesn't run any type of bonus scheme, I guess because we are quite a small office it's deemed pointless. But I did wonder if anyone is in a company with specific ideas in place to counteract all these new "figures" that seem to pop up every now and then.

I usually go in unless I'm really bad. It's too much hassle otherwise because they always find something that's gone wrong.
I'm off today because I've got severe pain from my wisdom tooth...there's a flap of skin over the tooth trying to come through so thats making it reallyl sore. Went to the dentist, and now my face is really numb, although the pain is starting to creep back in again.
I did feel bad calling in sick, but I really didn't feel like I was going to be able to work with the pain...unless I was dosing myself up constantly all day and thats not practical with only one short break
*feels miserable*
