End of the world as we know it: Bush wins US election
The American ABC network has just declared Florida for Bush. Kerry is behind in Ohio. Looks like it's all over.
Four more years.

Anyone got a good planet to emigrate to?

I'd heard as of this morning it was still neck and neck... but still, I *am* having Total Recall flashbacks - all of a sudden: "I want to go to Mars!"

Kerry is something like 139,000 behind with 250,000 or so provisional ballots to be counted.
Which could take 2 weeks to count.

As an American I have to say, I'm just totally depressed. Who the hell are these people who voted for four more years of this?
It's not completely over yet because not all of the votes in Ohio are counted. It's a longshot. But as long as the provisional ballots aren't counted yet, and there are more provisonal ballots than the number of votes Kerry is behind, there's still a chance. But...

Carrying this on, do they not know what a complete t*at Dubya is? This makes me so angry. I don't want to be ruled (and effectively we will be with all the bum love between him and Tony!) by him. Are these people just dumb or well dumb

The footage of Osama Bin Laden that emerged last week sometime virtually guaranteed Bush a second term in office. I personally think Bush has scared the voters into a second term as watching some of the coverage, the first words to leave his lips was "the war on terror". What with that and the OBL stuff, Kerry didn't have a chance...

A friend of mine said today that the democrats probably would have won if John Edwards had been their candidate, as he's better looking. The sad thing is, that's probably true
I was in America before the last election and back then it seemed that Gore had the edge over Bush. Everyone I spoke to over there was supporting Gore too. Unfortunately though, for every intelligent, rational US voter there seems to be at least one who's only care is how much "ass whuppin'" the US army can do

The commentators I read were all careful to say the Bin Laden video could benefit either side, but I reckon you're right. Watch out folks, towelheads under the beds!

The mobilisation of the religious right over issues like stem-cell research, gay marriage and abortion seems to have played a major part too. Eleven states had referendums to ban gay marriage running alongside the general election, which is sure to have got the republican vote out.
Kerry's still not conceded, but he's not issued a statement either. Looks like he's already being buried by his siege mentality.

Kerry has called President Bush to concede the Whitehouse.

- The US economy going further down the plughole while the Whitehouse rapes the poor.
- A real chance of Roe vs. Wade being overturned when Bush packs the Supreme Court with a Republican junta that'll drive US policy to the extreme right for decades to come.
