As far as i'm concerned, once a film is out/somethings been on TV/etc, it's open season.

It's quite selfish to expect people to keep their mouths shut and not discuss something they're interested in once they've seen/read it. Can't expect people to hold off their thoughts indefinitely, or at all really.

If i've seen a film, i want to discuss it immediately, not in 3 weeks (or 3 months, or 3 years, because some people don't seen stuff anytime soon), and i wouldn't expect anyone else not to.

The current rule here is that as soon as something's been screened on terrestrial, or released in the cinema, it's fair game.

Of course, no one likes the end being blown. People seem to be more circumspect with films than TV, cos generally everyone sees a TV prog at the same time, but going to the cinema is more staggered.

With all the new digital channels, there's often more than one chance to watch TV programmes these days, so this might have to be reconsidered.

I don't have a problem with spoilers when something has been shown on TV... what i can't stand is when people spoil the ending of something. There's a guy at work who goes to the cinema alot, he'll come in the day after he's seen the latest film and he'll ask if anyone has seen it. If you say you haven't seen it he'll start with "Well in the end blah blah blah" I've asked him not to do it, it doesn't sink in, so now its my pet peeve.

So, I get pissed off when someone tells me the ending of something that I haven't seen and intend to. On websites its easy to avoid... I'll just not read the threads about films/tv programmes I want to watch at a later date, In real life *most* people will shut up when you say that you haven't seen something and want to, The journal issue where this comes from is a little different as you can be reading about something compleetly unrelated and then whoops! Theres the sentance that blows the ending snuck up on you before you can stop reading. I always try and think about my audience and for a popular TV show (or even a Book - *thinks about how careful everyone was with the Harry Potter Death issue when book 5 came out last year*) that I know a few people on my friends list watch then I'll hide details under a cut as I now that not everyone can watch the show when it first goes out.

The guy I was working with today was telling me that some bloke on the train was talking on his phone about a film he had just seen and gave the whole plot away to the entire carrage.

I once got in trouble for dropping a spoiler for a film called 'X' by saying 'everyone dies'. My defence was that I wasn't actually giving anything away because a) it wasn't entirely true and b) it's like saying 'Titanic: the ship sinks.

I guess a spoiler is in the eye of the be-spoiled.

Spoilers only really bother me if i am planning on seeing/reading what ever the spoilers are about.

I say if you talk about spoliers and someone else dosn't want to hear it then the can say they don't want to know or just walk away from the convo. for reading about it in a journal they they could just not. it's an easy thing to do

Once the new version of T21 comes along, which is as soon as possible, there'll be provision for rating individual threads for spoilers. Sorry it's taking so long, but technical factors (we have to let the techies out the darkened room occasionally, we've been getting compalaints) and real life have all been intervening here.
