Its about time. Its an outdated barbaric practice that serves no use to anyone.

What completely disgusts me about the whole thing is the pro-hunt protesters banners "Fight Prejudice, Fight the Ban" Like any fox-hunters have ever experienced prejudice because of their hunting activites

I'm 100% for the ban. It's a disgusting "sport". I see no point in it but to satisfy a great deal of "toffs". I live in Norfolk where the papers are all "End of an era, great sport". It makes me sick to my stomach. What is the point of it anyway? It makes me angry to think about this subject

I am in two minds over this. I know itÂ’s horrible to say. I am glad that the so called Sport has been stopped but I do have to wonder the effects this is going to have on the environment in the years to come.

I don't really think it will have an effect. They will find other ways to cull the foxes that will *fingers crossed* be more humane.

This coming from me might suprise you, but im in two minds too.

I am totaly against fox hunting as a sport, its disgusting. But, this wont only stop the "toffs" it will also affect farmers who do have a huge problem with foxes killing live stock.

And its going to affect the dogs. Beagels are bread on mass for hunting reasons. Alot of dogs will end up put down, drowned, dumped.

Beagels are also used majorly for animal testing.

So they've saved the fox and condemed the dogs.

And lets face it its always been a pretty redundent arguement as Fox hunting doesnt kill enough foxes to be realesticaly saying they are keeping the numbers down.

But hunters put the dogs down after three years anyway because by that point they are too 'old' for the hunt and the hunters don't give a rats ass about them as dogs just as tools of the 'sport'.

Glad about the hunting ban, but I'm a little scared that the government will see this as a free reign to use the Parliament act to push through any bill that faces opposition from the upper house.

I also think that the Police will find it hard to enforce the bill if Hunts choose to transgress.

A large group of people riding across the countryside with dogs (even if wearing full hunting garb) will not necessarily constitute a hunt.

The Police will probably have to catch them in the act of killing something (or find other evidence) otherwise, i can't see them being able to do a lot about it unfortunatly.

'Fraid the conclusion I've come to is that this won't help foxes at all, and is really about sticking it to the toffs. Someone said much the same thing a while back on this board, and I've come round to that view. Not that I've any time for the aristocracy, but gratuitous legislation like this, when there are far more serious ills befalling society, seems recklessly arrogant.

Of course the upper house is full of toffs anyway, who arent elected. But thats a differnt discussion altogether.

But it's not exactly the first time they've used the Parliament Act. They've used it twice before. I don't think we're going to suddenly see a raft of legislation forced through the Lords just because they did it with the Hunting Ban.

Well i have seen on the news that people have signed agrements stating that they would still do the hunts after the ban is up and running.

At the end of the day what would happen to them if they got caught? A fine? like that would make a big dent in thier pockets
