Everybody has got a song that makes them go aaarrrrggghhhh so lets find out what everybodys song to make you go aaarrrggghhh is I'll start with keith harris and orville and i wish i could fly AAAARRRGGGHHH

Oi!.. i love that record!...

Pretty much all the stuff by acts like So Solid Crew and their ilk... i mean.. c'mon, are they really as hard as they like to pretend that they are?

oh, and DJ Otzi's "Hey Baby" and that other one he did... truly horrible, horrible stuff! ... and Eternal Flame by Atomic Kitten... they ruined a perfectly good song.. sounded like caterwauling cats ... ick...

I really like Wake Up Boo! I agree with you on the rest, though.

But my nomination for Most Cringeworthy Song Ever is 'Man, I Feel Like a Woman' bu Shania Twain. There's just something about it that I cannot stand!

Incandenza It's not a zero-sum game.

Any situation where someone takes a once good song and cynically rerecords it whilst managing to leach the heart and spirit from the original.

Good examples would be:

Any cover version by Boyzone (especially Baby Can I hold You) or Westlife, Bridge over Troubled Water by Heresy, Under the Bridge, A1's Take on Me or 5ive's We Will Rock You, the entire Robbie Williams 'swing' album.

Likewise - I'm generally opposed to covers unless it's a really impressive version!

My current pet hate is last year's version of "Cold as ice" (as used on the toothpaste commercial - I don't know who recorded that version). If you've ever heard the original (one of my favourites from Foreigner), you'd understand exactly why I hate it!

And I really hated the GAP ad where people line-danced to a re-recorded Queen track (can't remember which, but it was terribly done!).

There are loads of songs that make me cringe. One of them is that song that's always on MTV "Blow your whistle" it's truly awful.

Also "Happy walkie talkie" The song that's 100 years old and pops up everywhere.

Myself..I like almost anything but I absolutley detest Madonna, 'American Pie'...easily the worst cover ever!!
