Cos Arsenal didn't win the European Cup, just the FA cup. With luck I might add...

Congratulations to Liverpool. It was an amazing game. You couldn't have predicted that they would roar back to win after being 3-0 down at half time. A well deserved victory

Congrats to DJ Billy's team - you knew once it was level at 3-3 that Liverpool were going to win, especially when Dudek made the double save from Shevchenko right near the end of half time. Apparently Chelsea are after him (Shevchenko) for £70 million ! - what do we need him for - we have enough strikers that don't score already AND he missed his penalty !!!
Be interesting to see if they allow Liverpool to defend the trophy next year tho. Personally, i think the holders should automatically go through, even if it is Liverpool

I guess it was an amazing game. I sat myself down to support the English club, just like I had done with Man U in '99, but found myself disappointed after less than a minute and wondering whether there was any point continuing to watch by half time. So, I decided to dig out video with last Saturday's Dr Who and caught up with that instead of watching the 2nd half. As I finished that and stopped the tape I returned to the footy with about 5 mins to go and the score at 3-3! - bugger... shows how much faith I had!

Was happy to see them prevail though. Dudek's double-save (the second of which I don't think he knew much about), watching Gerrard play virtually every position towards the end, and Jamie Carragher (so cramped-up that he could barely walk at times) throwing himself into tackles at the death will be my abiding memories.
Well done lads. *trophy smilie*
This thread is about actual football not 2 or 3 Scottish teams trying to beat eachother every year

Agreed. Liverpool should go through to defend but according to FIFA or whomever, it's not gonna happen as of right now....

And i'm still trying to get my head around any club contemplating spending that amount of money on a single player.... sheer and utter madness...
Emm do you actually know anything about football? How many teams have won the Premiership in the last 10 years? For the last god knows how long the Premiership has been a 2 horse race between Man Utd and Arsenal. Chelsea have come into it now thanks to Abramovich's billions and Man Utd are dropping out of the title hunt due to inconsistency and the fact that Fergie, god bless him, is getting a bit past it.

The SPL may be a 2 horse race between Celtic and Rangers but the EPL is no better when you get down to it. The main difference is that the other clubs in the EPL have got the money to bring in gifted players who can on there day beat the top 2 clubs. Unfortunatley in Scotland the lower clubs are all deeply in debt and the Old Firm use this to their advantage by buying up all the promising players for a pittance and then throwing them into there reserves to rot. Change may be afoot however, Rangers are no longer able to be bailed out by their chairman and Celtic's board are being very tight with there purse strings. Coupled with the fact that Aberdeen & Hibs have both got promising sides full of young players and next season may just see a non-old firm team challenging for the title. Wheras I'd put money now that it'll be Chelsea & A N Other fighting it out for the top spot in the premiership next year with the rest squabbling for a champions league place by finishing 3rd or 4th.
A story I heard today is that the Welsh League Champions would like to play a pre-pre qualifier against Liverpool, home and away, for their spot in the champions league.

According to their chairman the money generated from 2 fixtures against Liverpool(which would undoubtedly attract significant media attention) would be of more use to them than the pitiful amount they would get from being knocked out in the pre-qualifier by some Latvian team. Seems like a fair enough way to me. Wonder if UEFA will go for it
Anything I'm gonna say is gonna sound sarcastic and patronising. In the words of Parky on Radio 2, he gives all kudos to Arsene Wenger for getting decent players and a brilliant squad with a lot less money than other clubs. Anyways I was being sarcastic so I'm just gonna stick to what I said as Ethan was mocking my boys, we have an actual interesting league

This story first came out about a month or so ago. Apparently the Welsh FA are against it.

I doubt that UEFA would go for it though, even though it would solve the problem of who drops out of the competition to make way for Liverpool.
I think that the only way Liverpool can get in is if UEFA realise that itÂ’s in their own interests to do it. If the key people and organisations (which as far as UEFA are concerned, of course, are the people and organisations that give them money) feel that the competition will be devalued by the absence of the Champions then UEFA will probably give in.
well i don't think the rules should be changed for liverpool, obviously it needs adressing as its a stupid rule that they can't defend the title, but they should do it next time, not just randomly change them now. but as my boyfriend said, its probably just because i support everton
there were SO many people in the city centre yesterday celebrating their homecoming and the bus with the players on went right past us! got some great photos and a little video clip! it was so much fun and i don't even support them! i've never in my whole life seen liverpool quite like it was yesterday!
