Wow it pays to be an early bird. I've entered, so I guess roll on 12th June.

I'll be watching from home.

The one time I've been to see a concert there I couldn't get over just how appalling the acoustics were. I guess where you're in an area of open parkland you shouldn't have particularly high expectations. As a result, I went with extremely low expectations and it failed to meet those.

I'd much rather my armchair with the home cinema speakers cranked up to a decent din and a ready supply of (non watered down) beer.

Maff and I both texted to get tickets this morning. Got to wait til 15th to see if we've got any though

Quite a few African artists are none-too-pleased with the near-total lack of African music on offer at an event raising funds for their continent. Geldoff's intentions are clearly good, but I can see how there's a feeling of white man's burden about the whole enterprise.

This makes for confusing reading, unless a post has been deleted any quote should at least refer back to something that has actually been said ...

While I appreciate that it's not just a normal concert and is for fundraising purposes for a different continent, it's a shame to make it unnecessarily political when all most people want to do is enter for freebie tickets to go and see some well known big named artists.

I've seen some pretty lousy local bands performing at gigs before, so it's good to know what you are getting

I had toyed with entering, but as Gobstopper said, you'll get a better view and more comfort from home. Also no need for umbrellas

I was under the impression that this was NOT a fundraising event. The money from the concerts is going to cover the costs of the concerts. The idea is to exert political pressure on the countries at the G8 summit rather than raise funds (hence Live 8 rather than Live AID).

As the concerts are aimed at these 8 countries I would have thought it more important to have bands/singers from these countries rather than from Africa. It is a shame (imho) that the lack of African artists is being highlighted and detracting from what is a fantastic idea to put pressure on the countries at the G8 summit.
