Have been told to report for work as the network may be running a special service as soon as all is clear.

Does this count as posting rumours because the article can be updated by anyone and isn't limited in the same way that official news sources are? Just wondering!

But to keep things simple, I'll say only post information confirmed by a professional news agency.
Didn't realise we were turning this place into a news agency rather than a discussion site. Think I'll just use other sites and my own journal to get information rather than wait for things to be "confirmed".
Tell me if I'm wrong but most people want to hear "any" information rather than just sitting waiting. Just shows how bad this site is becoming

Babe, you know I love ya (I'm still drunk ) and all that but lets not start

I know...certain people really piss me off though. I'm just glad that none of my friends were hurt. Thoughts are with all the people who have been affected by this today

I agree. Glad no-one on here was hurt.

Milky, this has nothing to do with being a news site. T21 isn't going have unconfirmed rumours that could lead to scaremongering. You can discuss confrimed reports. Whatever problems you have with me personally, I don't care, it's the decision of two members of staff, and this isn't the time to debate it.

Having a really weird flashback moment here. Was in the T21 chatroom on 9/11 as news was just first coming in, remember the reports that came in as they happened and the aftermath as we wondered how the world would react and what it meant. At first everything and everyone just wants to know what happened and then slowly, over time, people start to ask questions and ask what happens next.
I guess this is now the world we live in. I have one remaining person not confirmed safe from my family in London.
This thread is for discussion and incoming news, but not for rumour; it's OK at this point to start other threads for unconfirmed news, speculation and rumours

Thank God no-one on here has been seen to be hurt, and I hope someone finds out how Inc (as I understand it, the only person not accounted for as of this moment) is doing soon.
I'm guessing a further death toll still hasn't been confirmed yet, but I'm hoping it stays as low as it has done; not that this is something I'd call lucky, but it's damned lucky conpared to other recent incidents. This article from the Guardian says hundreds have been hospitalised. Still, the best of luck to all those affected, and my condolences to the families and friends of the three people confirmed dead.
Does anyone know where a link to/copy of the claim of responsibility can be found?

For God's sake, there is a time and a place for site politics, this isn't it.

Reuters have stated that approximately 40 are said to have been killed according to a U.S. official.
The police have officially announced that there have been 33 fatalities, but that doesn't include any from the bus bombing for fairly obvious reasons This number will go up.

I feel sorry for the people at the press conference, the press keep asking the same questions over and over and i dont think that at the moment any of them could know whats going on, so why not let them go on and do their jobs.
Taken from the TFL website:
-Docklands Light Railway has resumed but will not be stopping at Bank, Stratford and Canning Town.
-National Rail has resumed service but there is continued disruption.
-Bus services in Zone 1 are returning to service.
-London Underground will be closed for the rest of the day and will resume service tomorrow morning.

The timing of this with G8 and the Olympics is intriguing for sure but I'm of the opinion that it may as well be any other day for this to happen. Nothing was happening on 9/11. These people don't need an excuse to do something like this.
What a horrible situation. I feel so badly about everyone who has been killed or injured.
All the news stations out of New York City have been covering what has happened in London non-stop all morning, and we get the BBC Tv news here on one station, so I've been watching that for the latest developments. I certainly hope there are no additional deaths, and I'm glad to see that no one here has been directly affected.

I always wondered whether they picked that date, in some kind of sick and twisted way, because it's the same as the emergency service number in the US.

Nothing was happening on 9/11

Ya know, in all the time since 9/11 happened it never occured to me that it was their emergency number I always say it as nine/ eleven and just automatically read it as that too.
