Apparently the first ep pulled in 6.4 million viewers, the biggest audience for a US tv show premiere ever for them. Second ep pulled in just under 6 million.

That comment concerned the vast majority of the principle cast, and its entire point was, of course, that I don't judge people by their appearance, hence my distain for using the single overweight character for cheap comic relief.

It may have been fair criticism to you, but you've done it to the wrong people. The majority on this thread have done nothing but praise Lost in one way or another, so what did you think was going to happen to the first person to slate the show?

Taking up on this comment and the few above, just to remind everyone that this thread is based on the channel 4 watching so please can you keep the comments and plotlines based on that

My own personal opinion was that the excitement just really wasn't there in these first 2 episodes. In some cases there was just too much trying to be squeezed into the pilot. I'm intrigued to see how the individual characters are played out, but introducing the mysterious beast thing I felt was too early and too cheesy in an episode that could have benefitted more from character interaction and survival instincts first.

Whoa, whoa, hold on there, back right up. Let's be clear. I've "done" nothing to anyone. I've criticised a TV programme I didn't like. Some people may chose to take criticism of their favourite show personally, but that's not a defendable atttitude.

Which is well within your rights, I'm not arguing the criticism. But I would personally have been a little more cautious. There are plenty of shows I can't stand, but there's no way I'd criticise them on a thread full of people that worship them. That would be asking for trouble lol.

ThereÂ’s no doubt that there are plenty of people who love the show and thereÂ’s no doubt that there will be people who wonÂ’t like the show, which is good really as it wouldnÂ’t be much of a discussion if everyone agreed with each other! If people, whichever side of the fence theyÂ’re on, want to respond to something that someone else has written then thatÂ’s great, but what I would ask (putting my staff hat on for a sec) is that people comment on the points that have been made about the show and not on the person who made those points

IÂ’m undecided about the show after the first couple of episodes, but IÂ’m looking forward to seeing what happens in the next few

Well Byron just went and put it all much better than I could have done. I don't know, I'll probably keep watching because apparently it DOES get better, it just didn't live up to expectations. I have to admit I switched over to E4 for the third episode because I HAD to know what happened next - its kind of like the Da Vinci Code, full of enough cliffhangers and secrets to keep your attention, but not actually all that good (so far at least).

One thing I think that Lost has suffered from is the level of hype surrounding it here. Some people were expecting to 'get it' straight away when Lost is a slow burner and needs repeated viewings to understand its true depth.

And of course any show that generates this amount of hype is bound to be critised in certain circles because its edgy and cool to disagree with the marketing. I'm not suprised that some views expressed on this thread are almost word for word what the Today programme review said.

I loved this show when I first watched it and ended up cramming 16 hours into the space of a few days because I just had to keep watching.

My repeat viewing of the first two episodes has only enhanced my view of the show as I've been abel to appriciate some of the intricate foreshadowing of things that happen further down the line.

One critisism that has been leveled at the show is that it signposts significant things to much... obviously from people who didn't pick up the subtle stuff that the writers thought we were intelligent enough to notice without signposting. Did everyone notice the subtle stuff around the Polar Bear and the rain? If you did you might have a theory about one of the characters that doesn't fit any cliche...

I noticed a connection between the rain and a character, but nothing about the polar bear.

Walt was reading a comic and it had a pic of a polar bear in it. I only got the rain thing when I watched it on Wednesday and I've seen the pilot tons of times, lol.

What's the rain thing? Or is it too spoilery to put in here?

Had you waited a good few more episodes in, I may have responded differently to this comment but having seen so little so far I find that this statement is unfair. I don't know about you, but I wait a little longer until I present judgement on how clever a tv show is. But hey thats just me and your opinion is yours which you no doubt will reply as such.

Why do I think the show is clever? Because like many here i've seen the entire first season so i've had a chance to see how it develops and just how intelligent it is.

T - When you said Aerosmith advert I automatically assumed the topless guy in the Crazy video, but alas i'm work.

I re-watched all 3 episodes the other night with my mum who is now quite hooked on it. They annoying thing is that she keeps asking me questions about it and its gotten to the stage where I just screamed 'just watch the show woman'

Quite a stupid question but anyone tuning into the behind the scenes show on Saturday?

But by making the original comment you are judging people by there appearance.

I've been a naughty boy and have used my psychic powers *cough downloading cough* to obtain the next few episodes since I can't force myself to wait for 7 days for my next fix.

I'm enjoying the show so far and valiently attempting not to try and work every little thing out based on what I think JJ may or may have written into the show. Still have a few ideas based on what I've seen and what people have said here.

I REALLY enjoyed the pilot.
I watched it with high expectations but they were exceeded. I can't believe I have to wait a whole 7 days for the next episode!
