I was at ...instore a couple of days ago buying wine glasses and they were putting the christmas stuff in then.....it's still september people! That's like *counts* 3 months away! A quarter of a year! Argh! We've got hallowe'en and bonfire night before christmas!

I've never been able to get in the whole excited about christmas thing in September, it still seems so far away!

It's still *way* too early to have Christmas stuff up. They should wait until November imho.

Hallowe'en is first as FG says, and it's way more exciting than Christmas stuff, for different reasons than everyone else cos it's our anniversary

Well the crafting big tv shopping things started in July belive it or not!!!!!
I started decoupage crimbo bits in Jan as still in mood but now have loads of bits and trying to get head around how these'll turn into cards. Things rough since hol/cruise & head on planet throb

The longer it is the better before chrimbo, hopefully creative head will get going and things come together. I've 2 birthday and one anniversary cards done before then.

Can you believe a big shop in town had the christmas display up on the 1st of September!

How early is too early?

Well as a rule, tinsel and furr when people are still sunbathing is pushing it just a little.

Personally I'd ban the lot until December starts. I'm all for seasonal cheer, but lets save it until after the annual occult fest and advert for the benefits of hanging, drawing and quartering are well out the way.

I reckon you're most likely on about Bonfire Night there, but that description fits nearly an infinite number of things/people between now and Crimbo... X-Factor, the Crazy Frog Crimbo Single, the little sods on my estate with access to fireworks with no consideration for people trying to sleep at the crazy hour of 3 in the morning...

I always get so hyped up about Xmas then it's a big let down of one day full of family politics and a great big anticlimax. So this year I'm going to be a grinch an hope the actual day is a lot better than normal

Oh yes I definately agree, the day itself sucks, but I love the whole build up to it, and it's so cold at the moment, so I'm definately in the mood!

Walking home from work tonight it did actually feel quite christmassy. It seemed to be a lot darker than it normally is at that time, it was a bit colder than it has been, by pure chance I was wearing my big winter coat (cos my hoody's in the wash)... Yep, I think we're definitely into winter (autumn and spring don't exist in my world ).
