Didn't get in from work 'til gone 2.30am, so was thankful to the extra hour's kip

For some reason my clock shot forward by 3 hours in the middle of the night, gave me quite a surprise when I woke up and looked at the damned thing...
They are talking about making Summertime longer or even totally stopping this whole hour forward / hour backwards thing all together from 2008 onwards.
The whole idea behind Summer and Winter time is based on saving energy and to maximize the time people spend in the sunlight (daylight savings). Maybe a nice idea in 1916 when they first had a "summer time" but to be honest it doesn't really apply all that much in our modern society. (we can provide our own light thank you and if you work in an office enviroment you are in flouresent hell anyways )
With the whole thing with clocks moving forwards or backwards twice a year has been going on for decades people still have issues wrapping their brains around it... as does the weekend actually become longer or shorter if you move the clock forward or backwards (yes it's pretty simple I know, but you would be amazed how many people get this wrong).
Plus think of all those devices on which you need to change the time (clocks, watches, mobile phones, alarm clocks, vcr's, church clocks, office clocks, ovens, microwaves and even modern washing machines have clocks in them!) this requires a lot of time in itself not to mention all the points of failure you create (and think of all those old people not being able to change the time on their microwave / vcr / oven etc).
Overall I wouldn't mind seeing it go, just pick one time and stick to it!
