Well last night was the T21 xmas gathering, and it was a blast! I met up with Milky at Oxford Circus and on the way to the pub we were thinking it'd probably be a bit of a quiet one, but there was actually a pretty good turn out and lots of fun was had!
The day started, as many such days do, in Ben Crouches where we all got suitably lubricated but also, sensibly, had some food to soak up the beer. I had PIE! MmmmmmmmmPie! A very nice beef and mushroom pie to be specific, served with mash-from-a-bag! Trouble was, that made me really full and sleepy... but that didn't last too long.
Several pints passed, several magic tricks were performed (including one that blinded us all), Milky was determined not to keep hold of his christmas card from DM, Pooks attacked me with her boobs, Ming was being constantly pestered to check the footie scores and we had some 'guest appearances' from Martin & Steve (but not Steve Martin. Lol!) and Steve's mates who had some interesting tales to tell about Slimelights... Then Spike wowed the girls sat at the table next to ours with magic. So much in fact that he came away with a phone number.... which he promptly lost and had to run back to the pub to ask for it again!
Then, after a brief moment of indecision when we almost went to a lap-dancing club instead, we moved on to The Steam Engine for a night of pure unadulterated karaoke action! This was delayed slightly due to people in the pub wanting to watch the boxing, so we entertained ourselves with a few rounds of poker. I also managed to pull some bloke at the bar I think... Lol!
When the karaoke finally started I was first to be called up, so I tried my best to not completely ruin I Predict a Riot by the Kaiser Chiefs (I wanted to do Every Day I Love You Less and Less but they didn't have it). Some more singing took place (mostly by us lot) and then Spike's birds turned up! I think everyone was quite surprised at that, especially Spike! They sang Aqua's Barbie Girl (with Milky and I doing the male bits). Dangermouse sing Is This the Way to Amarillo (and Milky and I decided to march either side of him for the duration of the song). Some girl asked if she could leave her drink and coat at our table while she got up to sing Sweet Child O' Mine. She then asked for some dancers, so naturally Milky and I obliged! You really couldn't get us off that stage! After some fantastic dancing and lots of air guitar her and her mate joined us at our table. Then Milky put the two of us down for a song without telling me. It turned out to be Let's Get Ready to Rhumble. And it was exhausting! Lol! There's so many words in such a short space, and combined with all the bouncing around we were doing I was out of breath by the end! Throughout the whole evening Ming was just sitting back quietly, not singing, just filming everyone else!
At about midnight the karaoke came to an end and everyone started to make a move towards home. Except me and Spike who got talked into staying by Spike's new fiance. The Steam Engine had a license until 2:30am so we stuck around, had another couple of drinks, played some pool and chatted to Darren and the girls. Then at about 2ish we decided to leave and get a couple fo busses home, where we amused my flatmate with our drunken tales of the evening till about 4:30am.
Ahem, this turned into a longer post than planned... Hey-ho... It was a damn cool night. Thankyou to everyone who made it so. And *hugs* to all those who couldn't make it, it would've been even cooler if you had been there...
So... who's up for doing it all again on Friday?
