i was in comet the other night, trying to buy a new telly - i was wearing my work shirt (white, short sleeves, company logo on the left sleeve), and kept having people wander up to me asking if i work there (comets staff wear LONG sleeved shirts, in a really manky orange!!)
ive had similar things happen in various other places while wearing various other non-uniform-lookey-likee things, but my all-time fave is the time someone thought i was security @ a club in manchester - id just nipped down to give a cd to the manager (who just happens to be a mate of mine) for a band who were trying to get a gig there, and ended up standing at the front desk with him half the night, talking utter crap as usual, and having people asking if i wanted to check their bags/coats/IDs.
i wouldnt have minded, but the actual security bloke was standing right by the door, but everyone seemed to thinkk that i was the security manager, so they were talking to me, not the big (6ft 4), burly (built like the proverbial brick out-house), heavily tattooed bald thug (Y would have loved him... ) they should have been.
