What's your next gadget purchase going to be?

With the launch of the iPhone in the UK eminent and the release of the new ipod series I figured it be time to check your opinions and to see what your next gadget purchase is going to be.

Personally I feel the new ipods are a bit overrated as I'm just looking for something that can play mp3's and possible a bit of video. I'm personally eyeing one of those mp4 players on ebay although the battery life on them seems to be pretty bad which is putting me off a little. However I don't feel like spending Â£149 quid on an mp3 player that does videos on a dinky screen as well when you can get something similar for 40 - 50 quid on ebay.

As you might have guessed by the previous paragraph the iPhone is therefore completely wasted on me although I wouldn't mind winning one or something but I certainly wouldn't buy one. Although I am being extremely tempted by the HTC TyTN II (Kaiser).....

On a completely different note I was going to buy an Xbox 360 with the whole Halo 3 and GTA IV thing going on. However with GTA IV not being released until April next year I'm guessing I'll be hammering away on my old xbox for a while longer.

Well I recently bought a new PC which wasnt a planned purchase, at least until my last one went fzzzzt.

I had been wondering about getting a PS3 in the new year, however Im flip flopping on the idea as the 'killer aps' are still yet to appear. I suspect once the God of War 3 shots start appearing and LittleBigPlanet becomes a phenomenon, Ill feel somewhat differently.

im not going for the iPhone, mostly because its going to be on o2, but also because i only got my current phone (TyTN/MDA vario II) the day before T-party, so its barely 6 months - certainly not time for an upgrade, even if it was on T-Mobile.
my next planned purchase is going to be a white macBook - with all the options (and including a mini DVI-VGA cable, for attaching to an external monitor) its going to cost me just shy of a grand, just in time for my birthday in november.
if ive got the cash, i might buy my dad an iPod Nano - hes been after something similar for a while.
apart from that, nothing else is planned - well, apart from a new digital compact, possibly in time for xmas, and a HDD camcorder, possibly in march...

I've ordered myself an iPod Touch. My 3rd gen iPod is a bit long in the tooth and I wanted to update it. I don't want somethng small like the Nano (i'd lose it), and although the Classic has a huge amount of storage, i've actually decided to go down in storage to the 16gb Touch. I'll manage the music better with playlists, and try a bit of video (cartoons, video podcasts and the like).

I won't be going for the iPhone, cos my music and video will come from the Touch and my current phone contract doesn't run out until November next year, so i've got a way to go yet.

Future purchases include a new PC next year (i had a G5 iMac and would like a new one, but they're sooo expensive, so i'll be going fr a Dell lol) and an LCD TV.

Besides several Xbox 360 titles out soon(ish), I'm thinking new keyboard and mouse for the PC (the PC's new, the keyboard and mouse aren't), possibly looking at an iPhone or an ipod touch (this is the first time I have ever been interesed in iPods, which have previously irritated the hell out of me, so this speaks volumes IMO) but the phone in Chamb's post above looks very nice indeed...

I'm going to see what new phones come down in price when the iPhone comes out, tempted to get an N95.

I'm also likely to replace my PSX (no, that's not a typo!) with something a little bit more modern -- probably a 360.

Played about with a stupidly potent gaming PC a few weeks back (a pair of GeForce 8800s, quad core 2.93GHz processor, 4GB memory etc) which was very nice. Fortunately so stupidly expensive that I'm not even tempted (though a more modest upgrade to my current desktop may be in order).

That looks nice, though I don't like the software of it. I'm very tempted to get a Neo 1973 when it is publicly released because of the no-vendor-lock-in quality of it.

My iPod touch arrived (i'm posting on it now) and i'm very pleased with it. I'd read the specs but it's so thin it's amazing. The screen is huge and i'm really enjoying the multi touch interface. Very nice.

i had a play with an iPod Touch yesterday - it works amazingly well,and looks really good, but theres not enough space on it, and the controls are useless if you keep it in a pocket as i do.
hell, even the Classic is going to take some getting used to the controls - doesnt work as well in a coat pocket as my Nomad Zen Extra - i love that, but need more than 30Gb...

Yeah the capacity if a deal breaker for a lot of people. I had a 60gb iPod before and around 30gb of content on it, but it's not like I can or do listen to it all the time, or even regularly for most of it. So i've downsized to the 16gb iPod touch and i'll manage my music more actively with smart playlists and whatnot.

I'm not too fussed about not having physical controls for using it in a pocket either cos when i'm walking I tend to walk along with them in my hand.

You could always import one of the newly announced Zunes

not to mention that i would have to surrender my geek status - no longer would i be the alpha-geek at work...
TBH, id rather have a cd walkman - at least that has some retro cred.
