"Worn look" Jeans

This is probably one of those things where you realise that you're getting old and just don't understand kids these days.

I went shopping this morning because I decided I needed some new jeans, only to discover that most of the ones on sale look like my ones do. Which was why I decided I needed some new ones in the first place! Can anyone explain the point of worn-look jeans to me, also if you own them, how do you know when you need new one?!

LOL Actualy I'd be quite interested to find out about this because it's something I've thought about

although I think you would know they were worn out when the holes that appeared were just Too big to be trendy

Tut-tut Sange, you only have holes in them if they a) have safety pins in them, b) chains in them or c) leather thongs holding the holes together.
I have to say all my jeans (about 12 pairs!) are the worn look, or green tint, or pink tint, its just the fashion-all the jeans that we sell in our shop are worn look now. And you know when you need new ones, because a new tint comes out, or a new process to make them look old so your ones don't look old any more-make sense?

Does that work with school trousers?
Would save me rushing out to buy my sons new ones every month where they make great big holes in the knees

Don't like the worn look either! I know that they are the style at the mo, but I still don't see the point !

This is the great part about worn look jeans; you can recycle your old new look jeans

See, to me the fact that I dont have to buy new jeans when they get "worn" is a bonus not a problem

Have to admit, if they get holes in, that's it for me.. I like them faded here and there and "lived in", but not raggedy..

I also remember my uncle in the seventies deliberately pouring cold coffee on new jeans, and using it as a mop/cleaning cloth, before he would wear them in public...

Clearly the aim is to give a casual appearance and to set a fashion statement that seems at odds with the preceding youth group from two years ago.

Worn look jeans I can deal with though I dont "do" the worn look...

Well except for the "worn" jeans that consist of a stripe of what looks like brown paint down the leg... now they are really just stupid.

I agree, those types of jeans are a little silly... and i just hate the "worn" look that consists of a denim skirt or jeans looking like they've been kicked around in the mud for a few hours.. they just look disgusting... i like faded jeans.. i had a pair almost faded white and i loved them until the knees wore out...

Faded jeans are okay if they look like they are purposely faded. I really like denim skirts though

I can see no point in buying them worn. I mean, If you want worn jeans, just wear them out!!

Mine are a bit ripped along the bottoms from skateboard grip tape, and a bit worn at the knees from falling off my skateboard.

What about the ones that look like they've had bleach splashed on them? I mean, people pay more for them than for normal jeans! Why not just take some cheap jeans and bleach them yourself??

i like jeams that aren't faded but long denim skirts that are..but not those tinted ones, or dust.glitter/spanlge covered ones. oh and they have to be flared/baggy.

I understand what you are trying to say and the only conclusion I can reach is that some people obviously have more money than sense (I would guess the same principle could be applied to stars who buy designer labels when you could get a similar look for hundreds of pounds less) as surely you could get worn out jeans at a charity shop for far less and a similar look as buying them *new*
