Wow. Just wow.

Im seriously going to struggle to piece together a level headed critical review of this rollercoaster episode.

We were promised Aliens to Blink's Alien. That almost feels like its selling it short. We got lots of Angels but so so much more. Has there ever been a richer episode of Who? Not only did this two parter bring us River, AND the brilliant Weeping Angels, but also:

An intriging development for River and "the greatest man she has ever known"
Amy's wedding sub plot coming home to roost in a *gulp* memorable scene
The time cracks, their cause, their time of origin, and a brilliant explanation of why humans are REALLY bad at remembering scary aliens

Expectations that this would 'just' be a great story have been squashed, as Steven Moffat rejects the standard trend of drip feeding arc hints until the final is reached, and things-actually-happen. More happened in this two parter, and most of that in tonights installment, than anyone expected.

Amy clearly is the key to the arc, and for once a Who season arc feels like its in the hands of a creator who can do it justice (can ANYONE rationally explain all the Badwolf nonsense?).

Moffat also wonderfully exploded all the 'will they wont they' sexual tension that build between The Doctor and his recent companions, by having Amy throw herself directly at him, and have him completely FREAK OUT. This is new Doctor, this is The Doctor we expect.

Now I must go and rewatch the scene of Amy reclining on the bed, beckoning, in case I missed a crutial plot point. Yes thats its. A plot point. Definitely that and nothing else.

The Pandorica will open, and I cant bloody wait.

Ambitious, thrilling, crazy. Everything great Who should be.
