So you wanna be famous?
Radio 1 is to dedicate a whole day of broadcasting to unsigned UK acts in May.
It is inviting aspiring musicians and DJs to send in their demos in the run up to OneMusic Day on Monday May 6.
A number of acts will also be invited into the Live Lounge and the Maida Vale studios to play a live set on Lamacq Live.
OneMusic Day coincides with the relaunch of Radio 1's official website. It will have a new section called OneMusic, featuring expert advice on all aspects of the music business for young musicians and fans.
A spokesman for Radio 1 said: "This isn't a talent contest but it is about making sure new music gets recognized and nurtured as much as possible. OneMusic is about making sure music lovers get heard by the right people and that's very important to Radio 1"

This is an excellent idea. Finally a (decent) chance for unsigned bands to have their material aired to millions of people. Some of which are bound to have the right connections and to know when to spot talent when it is there on a plate.

Ooo, this would be great for my band, but we're not really ready yet and our drummer appears to have fallen off the face of the planet, so... Not the right time, I guess.

right come on we have a month to get a band together and get famous i'll play any sorta guitar thing or keyboars or triangle. so come on this could give the site good publiciy and we'll all be famous.
