Going to USA!/Airport Security
Hey guys, just a quick bub-bye. I'm off on a surprise trip to Florida tomorrow, mum surprised me! Anyway I'm very nervous bout any terrorist attacks coz we're flying into Washington DC. Then I'm scared bout having my bag checked aswell, any personal girly stuff is in there. Anyway wish me luck all, and take care xxx

Some of these security staff are useless. They can be very rude! Talking to some of my flight attendant friends over in the USA, they are searched a lot more than the pax! One security guard confiscated a stewardess corkscrew and then let a pax go through with a pair of knitting needles! This happens on a daily basis with objects other than knitting needles. 
Security is still not tight enough-might have something to do with the fact that the security people would earn more working the counter at Macdonalds-low staff morale.

Good point. Sounds like they were trying to scare kids into handing things over though Head2Head.

Airport Security seems to be quite a talking point, so I've edited the topic title to include that in this thread 
Not having left the country for many years on holiday I can't really comment on security these days. I know the last time I did go the America (Chicago then on to Alabama) my passport was barely glanced at, arriving or leaving.
Security seems to have been tightened at Heathrow though, from what I've been told.

I'm here safe and sound. And I have to say the Airport security was absoloutely cr*p. I mean I didn't realise it but I had in my carry on bag, a pocket mirror and it was broken. I mean hello, that could be used as a weapon. I also had a pencil case full of sharp pencils. Which may I add was for doing my maths homework 
. But yep I got searched in the UK, and they were OK with me. I was embarrased when my bag got checked I had some stuff in there which I so didn't want anyone to see! Especially a guy. Anyway still nervous bout flying back coz from Miami to DC and I don't wanna make any un-scheduled trips to the Whitehouse

Hi Lizzie, so glad you are there safe & sound hun. Please don't worry yourself about flight safety. Also the female 'stuff' that is in your bag when it is checked? Don't worry as I am sure that you haven't got anything in your bags that they haven't seen thousands upon thousands of times before.
