I'd agree that it shouldn't be anything obtrusive, you only want it as background music after all. So that rules out Slipknot then...

Other than that, pretty much anything good would go down well. Even if the song itself isn't romantic in the slightest, if it sounds right it can still be a good make-out song.

Scarily, it was Frankie Valli and the Four seasons. I think I own 4 versions of this song, all told (yipe!) and Manics is by far and away the best one! It was the B-side to "Australia", and I bought that single on the strength of it... A lot of people know it as the song they did a football advert with years ago, but hey...
Interesting what you all say about it needing to be unobtrusive - I've always tended to think of music that makes my heart smile for that kind of thing - I remember Texas's "In Demand" doing that to me once. Although occasionally the person I've been with has been freaked by a smiley me. Maybe I should smile oftener!

Boys Down Town?? Ummmmm.... who? They sound like a very dodgy eighties boy band.

The original was good. The Manics version rocked. The Muse version was pretty cool. And when Heath Ledger sang it in Ten Things I Hate About You, that was absolutely gorgeous.
