He did a whole album of songs so that doesn't even narrow it down

I think the most 'famous' one he did was 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' which wasn't a weird song just a weird version of it
Didn't he speak it or something..or am I getting confused with the Leonard Nimoy one

Nope, you're right about that. And in fact, if you so desire, you can listen to it here

And sticking with the Beatles theme, I Am the Walrus is a very cool, very strange song...
Not so much wierd as freaky but I'd still say Nightwish - "Nymphomaniac Fantasia" purely for the lyrics, examples include:
"Lick my deepest, hear the starry choir"
"Old love lies deep you said, deeper still shall be the wound between your legs"

I have a song in my collection that is a near constant tone for about 4 minutes. That one is pretty weird.
It's called Turn Me On Dead Man by a group called Exit.

there's a 70s song about a guy using his CB radio. I think the title is his call sign number. I remember thinking that was pretty darn wierd when i heard in on Dales Pick of the Pops a few weeks ago!
I love that song (don't laugh) my mum played it all the time when I was younger and I could sing most of the lyrics right now

I'll find the song title and lyrics later

The other songs of the same type of era I think are fantastically unique are "In the Cavalry" and "Convoy"
I don't care how weird I sound

Damn why I can't I find a google search of the full lyrics!! Although there's some mention of a cover by Belle & Sebastian here
Driver 67's novelty hit "Car 67" reached a high of number seven and he was to have no more hits. This was a song about a taxi driver being ordered to do a pick up at the home of the woman he'd broken up with the previous evening.

Thou should have a fishy, on a little dishy, thou should have a fishy when the boat comes in...
Ha ha, that's reminded me of one
"John Kettley is a weatherman, a weatherman, a weatherman, John Kettley is a weatherman .. and so is Michael Fish"
Who sung that!
