Audioscribbler

Just wondering if any of you use it. If you've never heard of it it's basically a plugin that interfaces with whatever media player you use. It then transmits the details of the songs you are playing to a central database which then compiles various data: most common tracks/artists/albums played, people with similar tastes to you, other music you may like etc.

Note that it does not have any form of spyware or adware involved.

So does this only work with MP3s or CDs as well? And does it work with most media players (Winamp and Windows Media Player are the only ones I really use)? I might give it a go, out of curiosity. It wouldn't be used a lot though, most of my music is on CD and gets played in my Hi-Fi. I'm old-skool me.

I think the way it works is that whatever is played through your desired program (Winamp or Windows Media) it will pick up on it. There's a plugin for both..

That's exactly how it works (I found out when I realised that it was using the IDV3 tags from the file itself, not a central Db), there's also a plugin for Quicktime/iTunes now.

So to get it to recognise both programs I'd have to download 2 plugins, right? And it'd put the outputs of both of them into my one account? Or can you only have one program/plugin associated with an account, so I'd have to choose whether to get the Winamp plugin or the Windows Media Player plugin?

I realise I could probably go and search through the site and find out myself, but asking you guys means I can be lazy...

I think that's the case, but with the fact that I only use Winamp, I couldn't confirm

You associate the plugin to an account, not the other way round. So you should be able to have multiple plug-ins working on one account.
