Oh dear, what can be said about this eh?

After the success that saw Trivium shoot to the top nearly overnight after their previous effort Ascendancy, you'd think that they would keep that type of vibe. This doesn't appear to be what they have done their relative young age has seen them go in a slightly different direction.

Think... Metallica if you will. And think lots of it, because this is what The Crusade stinks of. Even Matthew K. Heafy's vocals sound like he is trying to be James Hetfield!! To go from some of the best drumming and guitar solos I've ever heard to what sounds like a cover of early Metallica albums signals a serious problem to me. Don't get me wrong, there are still the solos and the drumming, but it just doesn't sound Trivium. Their new single Anthem (We Are The Fire) has been getting good airplay on the likes of Kerrang! and Scuzz TV, but it's probably the only track that I remotely like, using the term loosely.

I've not been grabbed by this album anywhere near as much as Ascendancy and I don't think I will be. Sometimes you need a couple of listens to get round something, but I'm more than happy to forget about this one already.

I personally guarentee you, listen to Ascendancy, then listen to The Crusade and you'll know what I mean.

In short, it sucks. Sorry guys. After having high hopes for this, I've massively lost interest in this band. I'll still listen to Ascendancy though
