Slightly easier than picking my fave ep of S3. While there were still some good eps in S4, only two eps really stand out for me: 'Hush' and 'Restless'.

'Hush' edges it for me because of the Burton-esque feel to it and the great performances from the cast. Despite being unable to speak for most of the ep, they still manage to express their characters as we knew them from their actions. And the scene in the lecture theatre was brilliant!

And the Gentlemen have to be one of the scariest baddies that the Buffy-verse ever threw up.

It was an ep worthy of its Emmy nomination. Pity it didn't win.

EDIT: Oh, and the fact that it introduced us to Amber Benson and the character of Tara scores majorly with me

Restless! So amazingly cool. Hush does deserve mention though.
Also 'This year's girl' is better than 'Who are you'
and 'tThis year's girl' ain't even in there

For me it has to be Hush - such a fantastic scary set of baddies & when you saw it, didn't it make you remember all those dreams you had where you couldn't scream out?

The acting was superb as without lines they *had* to really act so we understood what was going on.

Recently rewatched all of Season 4 and boy did it suck for the most part.

Things that stuck out generally...

Stories of the week were short, taking up only 20 minutes or so of screen time and surrounded by 'arc'. Watch Hush again and you realise how long it takes to get going.

The 'X' in ensemble. Angel gone, Oz leaves, Xander and Giles are relegated to unemployed appendages and Spike is made impotent whilst Buffy and Willow carry the bulk of the stories. The influence of Marti Noxon?

Restless might have been good but looking back the series never paid off on what it hints at.

New Moon Rising has a few good moments but as a complete episode doesn't stand out.

Initiative... had to look it up to even know what happened in this episode.

Harsh light of day... not bad but essentially half a story

Who are you? Pretty good, a neat idea but half a story again.

So my question is...

SUPERSTAR?

How is this not one of the best 7 episodes of season 4?

Initiative has one of my favourite Buffy scenes, Spike attacking Willow in her room, and not being able to 'perform'.

Personally , i thought Superstar was a great concept and a great first half, but I thought it fell apart at the end

Had to be Hush! The Gentlemen stole the show, and I never cease to be amazed at how well Joss pulled off not having dialogue for most of the episode!

An ep in a class of its own

BAlthough 'Hush' was fantastic, for me t's 'Bad Moon Rising' cos its a werewolf wpisode , and has Varuka in too

I have a quick question though, who/what chooses the eps for these best of things?
Just curious...

Well I post the polls, most of the episodes are common sense and the rest I either check other sites like TVTome for ratings, or ask other staff for opinions.

Hush Easily the best got to agree with Inc Superstar is pretty good.

And restless well i think that episode dissapeared up its own rear but thats just my opinion.
