Is ER actually a cult programme?
ER - On The Beach (episode 20)
Mark's actual death.
It didn't move me, ER has moved me, made me very sad. Kerry, Lucy's death, Abby's mum... this didn't. I'm not really sure why, maybe I never liked Mark's character, but it wasn't sad.
But, oh wow, Peter Benton and Cleo came back, just for the death, nice of them wasn't it. BUT where is Carol and Doug, you know, HIS BEST FRIENDS ????!!!! I know George Clooney is busy, but it would be nice to see off his old friend, but then again Doug was always a donkey's obtuse
Rachael was too annoying, too bratty. Plus, in his letter Mark died at Sunrise, hmmm.... looked pretty much mid afternoon to me Writers, will they never learn. A disapointing end to a disapointing day (SEE Buffy thread for unleash of anger)
**1/2
Two and a half stars (two just for Kerry at the funeral)

I guess so, anything can be 'cult' with enough followers, probably. You confuse my head
I was actually asking if Eastenders qualified as a cult because of it's high ratings.
By the way, what day is ER shown on Sky? I forget.

It's on Thursdays and todays (as a repeat) at 7:00 on E4 (205 Sky Digital). But we only have two episodes until the end
Kieran, i'd have to disagree with you about this episode.
I liked it a lot. It dealt with Mark's last days, trying to get through to Rachel, coming to terms with what was happening. The way he took her to his old haunts, the way she didn't want to know, then she did and then she didn't again. Getting angry at her dad.. being in pain because she was losing her dad too soon.
It was touching when Mark sang "Over The Rainbow" to Ella in the rocking chair to get her to sleep.. and when he passed away and the show ended at the funeral and Rachel asked the driver to stop the car as she'd seen some balloons and released one of them.. like the story her dad told her about balloons and what she did with them as a child.
And in his final hours he took a "tour" of the ER, a whole man then *sniffle*
It was a very emotional touching episode and very fitting to the memory of Mark Greene

Oh I know, but I've just never been a 'kid on show' fan. Until Dawn in season 5 (ruined in season 6), I had never watched a show with a kid which I thought worked.

I can see why others would enjoy the episode and when Mark was so ill he couldn't walk and his useless arm, it was all really well acted, hats off to Antony Edwards, but I just never liked Mark's character. The way he never really takes control, how he always makes excusses, how he won't deal with things head on, it infuriates me. It's nice he was true to his character till the end, but I just never liked him, sorry
On that point, I hated that, mainly because fat man Barry in Eastenders had done something similar on Thursday and it was SSSOOOO cringe worthy, all I could think off was that. I'll never be a parent

Then maybe it's because i'm a parent that that bit affected me as much as it did maybe i just empathise too much these days...
I have to agree with Keeny - I found this episode very moving, and it wasn't just the female members of my family who became a little emotional while watching....!
Maybe it is something to do with being a parent - I particularly liked Mark's speech about what he wanted to do before he died, the thought of not being around to see my daughter grow up and not being there with her during important milestones is unbearable.

Strange, that speech didn't affect me at all, but in 'Step Mom'. Susan Susan Sarandon makes a similar speech, worry that her daughter won't think about her on her wedding day and that moved me???
Strange. Maybe it's the Greene's. I hated Mark's dad's death, very dull, dislike Rachael and her mom. So, yep, it's the Greene's. Run Corday, run, before I hate you too
