Bop (Birds of Prey) looks interesting at the very least. If it's as good as SmallVille i'll be watching.
Birds of Prey
Anyone seen the trailer for this upcoming series?
The show is a loose adaption of a comic of the same name, it concerns a trio of female crimefighters:
The Huntress, result of a fling between Catwoman and Batman
The Oracle, used to be Batgirl, until a certain clown faced villain confined her to a wheelchair.
Black Canary, a troubled young psychic woman.
The trio protect Gotham years after Batman as vanished...
The trailer is very very impressive, and seems to be 50%Angel 25% Batman 25% Charlies Angels

The lady who plays the Huntress used to be in Dark Angel and i've read a few bits about it so im looking forward to it.
it sounds pretty cool..still waiting for the trailer to down load.
wow just heard sherilyn fenn is in it mmmmmmmm ilove her ever since what she did with that cherry stalk. so anyone know who sherilyn plays in it?
Spike she plays 'Harleen Quinn' she is the psychiatrist of of of the shows main characters. Her secret identity is 'HarleyQuinn'.
In the Batman cartoons she was the Jokers unhinged sidekick, but in this one i think shes ore of a villain in her own right.

I can't get the Avi file to work, but in the DC comics our heroines are as follows,
the Huntress was originally "Helena Bertinelli" the last surviving member of a Mafia family who took vengeance on those that murdered her family, and then kept going... the background's obviously changed a little for the TV show.
Oracle, Barbara Gordon was as Wo said once Batgirl and is Commisioner Gordon's daughter. She has a photographic memory and a huge supercomputer all located in Gotham City clocktower. Whether this will contiune in the show, I don't know.
The Black Canary real name Dinah Lance was a founding member of the Justice League of America. She's a martial arts expert as well as having "mutant/metahuman" powers.

Is it animated or with real actors? Does anyone know if / when it will be coming over here??
Its live action, and has the look of Angel mixed with Tim Burton's Batman films.
Id expect it here around the same time the next Buffy/Angel season starts

Re: Birds of Prey.
Hi there
I saw this pilot while I was in the States (got a screening copy). And I enjoyed it. For any Batman fanatic, you are gonna have a field day. There a some good references to characters from the comics and the three main heroines are great. There is a mixture of everything in there. I am not sure if it is coming to the UK, but I know it is piloting soon in US.

I agree with Pooks, I've managed to see the pilot and it's certainly interesting.
They even get Mark Hamill to play the voice of the Joker.

Im wondering if this one may be sunk before it every aires as word is it has been 'retooled', to make it less Tim Burton and more Joel Schumaker in its tone. ie bright poppy with bad jokes.
I guess the suits dont think that dark sells.

I've watched the Pilot and the second episode and found it quite enjoyble in the same vain as Dark Angel I would say ... and it hasn't really been re-tooled as much , just few minor changes , Huntress now wears a different costume when patroling and also the cat growling sounds have been removed when she fights ... But it is still in the same mould as the Burton versions of the Batman films

It will certainly fill the void that the cancellation of Dark Angel has made.
I've seen the pilot and was extremely impressed - it was upbeat and although the history appears a little shakey to me, it gives an edge to the characters.
Got to say the Black Canary reminds me of a young Uma Thurman.
Like to see more of this and soon

I've seen up to episode 3 now, and I'm quietly impressed so far Obviously it's still early days yet, but I like what I've seen so far
Sherylin Fenn was replaced after the unaired pilot, and the aired pilot is identical, only with Ms Fenn's scenes having been re-shot with a different actress.
Oracle does indeed have a big swanky computer in the clocktower, dunno about photographic memory yet though..
The strongest thing I've noticed so far is a similarity to Mutant-X, all the talk about meta-humans and stuff seems a little well, copied for want of a better word, but that might have just been down to the episode..
Can't wait for the next one

Actually, as I understand it, the Helena Kyle character is the Earth 1 Huntress, predating Helena Bertinelli but scrubbed in the Crisis on Infinite Earths when it was decided that the DC multiverse was just too complicated to live.

Such is my understanding anyway.
I believe that Earth 1 Huntress may have turned up in Kingdom Come. Everyone else did, after all.
Scuttlebutt is that Black Canary will be later established as Black Canary II, the daughter of the original, although still called Dinah. If Kingdom Come is anything to go by, I think this makes her father the Green Arrow.

Sherylin Fenn was replaced by Mia Sara, but I think the version of the pilot I saw was the original, unaired. It certainly looked a lot like Sherylin Fenn.
I believe the meta-human stuff deos come from DC, and is used to explain why superheroes exist parallel to the gritty pseudo-realism of Batman. I'm not sure though, as the broader DC universe is not my best subject.
Anyway. Having seen the pilot, I'd say the show has some potential, although I fear the Schumakisation. Didn't they get that that's what went horribly wrong with the film franchise?
We shall see.
Well all my info came from a book called "Batman - The Ultimate Guide to the Dark Knight" so I can't comment on the whos whats and wheres of it all other than to reiterate the info contained therein.
