After the last episodes air in January, the critically acclaimed Sci Fi series Farscape will be no more. Sci-Fi has decided to opt out of Season 5 and cancel the series. The executive producer David Kemper and series star Ben Browder (Commander John Crichton) entered the official Sci Fi chatroom and announced this earlier tonight. As Ben put it, "They're taking a chainsaw to Moya next week" meaning that the sets are scheduled to be destroyed within a matter of days.

Of course efforts have begun to save the show.

This is dreadful news, and I've signed the petition.

Hoping more people do as apparently the sets are being destoyed as early as Wednesday

Well, I signed the petition, although I'm not sure hwo much good it will do. A lot of people in genre programming - particularly on the money end - seem to feel that anything on or through the internet is merely representative of a few head-cases, and not the fandom at large.

Bad, bad news. I've already seen the first half of S4, and it's as weird and wonderful as ever.

Let's hope they can save it.

I regret that I never really got into this show, it just didn't "click" with me as so many other have done.

I also missed too many episodes to be able to survive on the few I did catch and, very much like Babylon 5, it seemed to be very arc based, even if I never saw enough to work out what those arcs were

I never really got into it all that much, but this seems to be part of a worrying trend of Sci-Fi related things getting cancelled..

So to do the guys. That's the great thing about Farscape; absolute equality of leching.

This is one of the worst pieces of news ive heard. my god isnt anything thats good meant to last. this show was getting good raitings and great praise, so why on earth would the people who own it want to destroy it. it makes no sense. ive sisnged the petition and sent a fax to the german company, but god know what help it will have.

i'm still quite stunned.
maybe it will be picked up by another company, considering its popularity.heres hoping

From what I have heard and read, Moya is actually in storage, not destroyed. Everybody needs to keep signing those petitions and sending those e-mails.... from a severe fan of Farscape(Watcher Girl and Dan will vouch for me on that!) Hopefully Farscape will return!! *fingers crossed*
