I remember this program & was terrified of the vortex thing at the end! I used to sit with my legs under me on the sofa & be yelling at the screen for them not to move there as the vortex was only 1 step away from them.

Really good show I enjoyed it, I wonder if the Crystal Maze may have been loosely based on this one? They both had crystals & tasks/games to complete....?

I loved this show, and it took me years to find anyone else who remembered it!

The aspidistra (later teapot) was the Rangdo of Arg, although that may not be how you spell it, and he was the ruler of the planet, hence the gronda-ing. Although I think he was also Moira Stewart's uncle

He was definitely Uncle.

And it probably was Rangdo, since it's an anagram of Dogran (the furball thing they had to guide through the maze) and Gronda. Lots of things in the Adventure Game had the same letters in.

There was a children's gameshow on ITV with a Gronda Hunter in it, but I don't think it was related.

Hey! Remember 'Argons round the pond'? My mum figured that game out in time for, like, the very last episode ever.

Which was nice.

How could I forget?

Was that in the last series? I know there was one with 'Argons round the pond' and in another they had to find a present for Uncle. That was the old word game - he likes ballads but not songs, Buffy but not TV etc. And they won green cheese rolls that were useful to throw ahead on the vortex to see if it was safe

I'm sure I've mentioned this before, on either the old board or buffyuk, but when they finshed making the show they donated the sets to my school for our drama classes. They were sitting on the back of the stage there for years. Wonder if they still have them...

Gosh ! early memories of this 6o'clock beeb2 prog ! Best part was when the Vortex sent some showbiz no-body (like Peter Duncan) whirling to oblivion! Kids today don't know what tv is !!

I seem to recall a lot of things being anagrams of DRAGON as they all turned into said creatures.
