You see when Lucas wrote the Star Wars plot the story was huge(He wrote basically from Episode 1 to Episode 9) and he realised that he would never be able to get the whole story into a 2 hour movie..so he picked the 4th part as it introduced characters and had the most rounded story which meant it could be used as a single film.

I am willing to bet that the original version from 1977 didn't have a tax dispute as it's inciting incident, or a certain Jamaican CGI character.

NB - The 4th part still has the most rounded story IMO.

It also had the lead character being called "Luke Starkiller" at one point so some things did better for the change.

Have you ever read a copy of the original A New Hope: Script...The Adventures Of Luke Starkiller?? It's quite interesting to read although i don't know how much of it was actually written by George Lucas. Their are quite a few differences although the basic story is the same. It used to be pretty easy to find using a basic search engine. TheForce.Net have The Adventures Of Luke Starkiller 2 in their Fan Fic archive although I've never read it.
