Angel 5.11: "Damage" Discussion Thread
Ever noticed how 'Angel' gets three times cooler when there's a Slayer on the show?
Spike getting a lot of good lines lately: "Oh, I just thought I'd see what it was like to bounce off the pavement. Pretty much what I expected."
Idly, I wonder if 'Angel' would have had more of a chance if Five hadn't bought the screening rights for the UK, and made such a hash of it

Yeh sorry about that, I wasn't peying attention. Anyway I think it was an episode worthy of two threads
I absolutely loved this episode. Andrew is sooooo funny. I was actually scared when watching this, the psycho slayer idea was well cool.
I cannot believe they are cancelling this show. The whole episode was brilliant, except maybe Andrews hair, that was pretty weird, definately prefer him with short hair.
So I loved Andrew explaining the slayer situation to the Angel team, also his reaction to Spike being alive, very funny
I liked how we were led to believe that spike tortured that girl but at the end it was just her messed up thoughts. All the torture scenes were really creepy, especially Spike having no arms.
I liked how Spike seemed to be taking his past actions more seriously towards the end, and also how Spike and Angel were bonding(sort of) at the end.
Overall a phenominal episode, I was laughing my ass off at parts and was completely shocked in others. The action sequences were brilliant and again David looked really good.

I have to say that right from the beginning the whole episode freaked me out - crazy women with hatchets should NOT be allowed!
I liked the way the storyline progressed and we found out the girl was a slayer and that tied in with the last Buffy arc of all the slayers being let loose upon the world.
Although, I'd love to know who managed to actually give her any medication in that mental home. You are lead to believe she missed her meds, but lets be honest, would *you* open the door or even stick your arm into that room she was in
The flashbacks and visions were great with the way they tied in. It was a little obvious that Spike wasn't the torturer (although what torture did the guy actually do? I assume it was only head and drug messing - because there was no mention of physical harm. Or am I the only one that likes to look at the psychological parts of the story ) I imagined it being something Angel would do, but Spike never seemed like the mess-with-your-victims-head kinda guy.
Andrew is never one of my strong characters, but this was a breath of fresh air. The Lord of the Rings haircut was very amusing, as was the mention to the films. This is realism and fantasy being adapted into a secondary fantasy show as if its real (work that one out )
When psycho slayer drugged Spike up I was imagining some nasty carving work with the hatchet (so I wasn't looking) but woooooh never in a million years did I expect her to cut Spike's arms off I'm looking at the screen thinking "that's an illusion" and "can vampires grow their bodyparts back?" but shudder arm cutting? The writers really are freaking me out with the gory now!
Can I come out from behind the cushion now?

Great ep, but I do have a question....TNT asked me the other night and I couldnt answer it so I am hoping for a bit of help here...
How do vampires have blood flow? their hearts dont beat therfore the blood can't flow surely? and if thats the case how could Spike have had his hands popped back on and how come vampires bleed?

I did assume that if anyone could reattach Spike's arms it would be the W&H goons/medical team/spiritualists *delete as appropriate

Who needs real answers when you have fantasy and make believe
Believe it or not, i'm pretty much spoiler free for this season of Angel... i didn't know what to expect in this episode and i absolutely loved it. Made me jump more than once. I loved the story of the damaged Slayer.
Andrew alternatively amused and annoyed me, and what was up with his hair, it so changed his appearance that it took me a moment to place him.
And i did jump when the girl's torturer was initially revealed to be Spike, because torturing isn't Spike's style, that's Angelus's style, so i was kind of expecting it to be him. It wasn't either of them. And i didn't see Spike getting his hands chopped off coming... yikes!.
Very very cool episode, dark, blood-thirsty, intense... it kept me on the edge of my seat.
Can't wait to see next week's, which is also the 100th episode

I got the impression that he had hurt her physically too, though nothing specific was mentioned. It was said that Dana was found "Naked and bleeding" after her ordeal, the 'memories' we saw Dana reliving included the torturer taking a Hatchet from his hole in the wall the assumption being that he used it on her and in the quotes that Dana remembers from her torture is "It doesn't hurt as much if you keep still" or some such... Or maybe I'm just very morbid about these things!

I loved this episode My fave line.... "I'm 82% more manly than last time we.... *squeels like a girl*" from Andrew. I'm interested to see where all these hints towards Angel being on the wrong side are leading. It seems odd to me that Buffy doesn't believe he is on their side anymore...
