I watched Taken when it was first shown on UK TV aaaaaaaaaaaaaages ago and absolutely loved it. Dakota Fanning was just amazing.

Must dig out my DVDs and give it another watch soon

Enjoyed it overall (even if the tearjerker hand-wringing finale could've been cut by about ten minutes without losing much imact), but felt that it was let down by its own frame story.

Possible spoiler for anyone who hasn't seen the series, but:

Since it was Ali telling us the story effectively in flashback - including at one point saying that she and Charlie have many happy years together - there was no real tension. We always knew that at least Ali would be safe up until the point where we come to the "present".
