Rassum frassum Robag...
Robin Hood
A soldier returns from a controvertial war overseas to find his English home governed by a corrupt ruler using spin to hide is deeds. To say that Robin Hood is being retold with a modern slant is putting it mildly.
Saturday 7th October sees the return of the popular folk hero to tv screens. After many successful (and unsucessful) versions in recent years, the BBC are aiming this fresh interpretation starring little known Jonas Armstrong will surpas Kevin "Everything I Do I do it For You" Kostner as the Hood of choice.
Probably the most recognisable face in this interpretation will be Keith Allen as the villainous Sherrif of Nottingham. However, those looking for the traditional Friar Tuck will be surprised to see he will not feature in the show, as a more realistic group of renegades is being used this time out.
Robin Hood recently hit the headlines for the wrong reasons when one of the crew members on the foreign shoot stole tapes with the only copy of footage for the series. Mixed reports say the tapes were recovered, but also that some reshooting was completed.
The BBC makes no secret of the fact that its trying to emulate the success of Dr Who by creating this new drama for its Saturday evening family drama slot. Thats certainly setting a high bar. Within a couple of weeks we'll know if Robin will hit the target or not.

I was very sceptical of this show. I didn't like Dr Who much, and generally (other than documentaries), i enjoy american-style programming more than british-bred stuff. The ads looked good though, so I gave it a go.
And i was pleasantly surprised. I really like this take on the legend; it's fresh while maintaining enough of the classic to be faithful.
Many of the new twists are more in terms of style and wit. The show is surprisingly funny. The Sheriff and Robin both had me cracking up at appropriate moments, and i'm sure it will be that, rather than the Robin Hood-medievil-setting that will keep me coming back to it.

personally i thoght the first episode was the dogs back wheels and hope it carrys on like that (mind you i had just sat through englands bore draw against the might of macedonia) nope i think it will get better and better
I must admit I did like it. Was really setting myself up not to like it but couldn't really help it much in the end. Although some obvious flaws did annoy me a bit. For example Robin jumping from the landing of the "barn" he clearly rotates to far in the jump to make a clean landing yet in the next scene we see him running off.
