Lost - Season Four Discussion (currently up to 4x08)

Oooooooooooooooooooh.

That just about sums it up. This was a really good episode and an excellent start to the fourth season. I loved the flash forwards at the end of season three, and that continues here, with the focus mainly on Hurley, with some Jack thrown in. After they leave the island, but apparently before the flash forward at the end of s3.

I really want to know what happens/happened. Now!

The interaction between Jack, Locke and Ben was fantastic and they are really the three most interesting characters at the moment. It's a shame some of the others took a backseat, but they'll come to the fore again.

Despite really enjoying it, I do have a love/hate relationship with the show. I love it... but I hate never getting any real answers, only getting more questions. But I love it really.

Great start.

im still not convinced those were flashforwards - i have one pet theory that most of the main charecters spent time on the island as children (in much the same way that ben went there with his dad - and probably around the same time), but left before the dharma team was wiped out - they dont remember each other, but theyve fallen into some sort of social grouping based on their previous experiences.

of course, this is competing with my alternate (and slightly older) theory - that this is all going on in hurleys head - except that hurley is an alternate personality in DAVES head...

How good was episode two?

I love the fact that whatshisface (the intense dude that set it all up) is around being all mysterious and that the an Oceanic 815 crash has been faked in the ocean somewhere. Mysterious.

The team from the ship are alright, especially Miles and Dan. I could do without the other two really. The twist of them being there to get Ben was very nice, and not something I was expecting.

Errr yeah. Fixed.

I really enjoyed episode three, The Economist. It was quite fun to see Sayid swanning around the world James Bond style, taking people out. I have to admit I was very surprised when the woman he was marking turned round and shot him. I guess I should have seen it coming, but I didn't.

As for the reveal at the end, it was very well done. And there are sooooooooooo many questions!

After being fairly bored with Lost during Season 3, my interest has really picked up again. I'm really loving Season 4. We're just one episode ahead of you here, so we're all seeing everything virtually at the same time.

I loved the Sayid episode. And my reaction at the end of it was, "Whaaaaaaaaaaat?" I had had no expectation of that at all--and have no idea what it means. But I don't mind the questions they keep dangling before us. I know it annoys some people, but I can wait for the answers. I'm just enjoying the ride.

Can't wait for the next episode.

Just watched episode four 'Eggtown' and it was another gooood one. I'm really enjoying the flash forwards. They're really well done so far and are giving us some excellent insights into what is going to happen, albeit piecemeal.

I suspected about half way through that Kate's son might be Aaron, but dismissed it as a bit daft. And then of course I was shocked at the end when they revealed that it *was* Aaron. The episode took me full circle and I loved it lol.

I'm not a huge fan of Locke becoming somewhat of an arsehole, but it really serves the story, so I can live with it. The stuff with Ben is good though and i'm looking forward to finding out who or what he really is.

i was discussing this with one of my friends last week (before the the kate ep was aired) - my money is on libby...
hell, that fits in perfectly with one of my two theories about the show - the one that says all this is going on in hurleys head...

Oh, goodness, no!

Reminds me of the last episode of St. Elsewhere, where we find that everything that happened in the show for the years it was on was happening in the head of the autistic child of one of the characters.

Of course, cause I think it can't possibly be that--it'll probably be that.

SPIKE "Hakuna Matata" Captain Zapy

Aaron won't cout as one of the Oceanic six, as he wasn't a passenger on the flight as such. My moneys on Sun and Jin being the other two, and I'm also curious as to if there may be a seventh, the one who was in the coffin, or if that would count as one of the six. Jack said in court only eight of them survived the crash, why wouldn't he just claim six of them did? What happened to the other two? One surely must be who is in the coffin.

I was thinking that they've only counted adults as the 6. Like Spike said, Aaron wasn't 'a passenger' on the plane. But then, he was one of the people that came back, so they could count him. My guess is they won't though and we've got two adults coming.

I think the person in the coffin is one of the six. The flashforwards in the current episodes are, the way I see it, *before* the ones from the S3 finale, so we're seeing what builds up to that.

Thats a bloody good point, I wasn't thinking. However, the person in the coffin could be someone not on the flight, such as Ben, as in Sayids flashforward hes also off the island.

Jack said that 8 survived the crash, that Kate nursed them all back to health but that 2 of them didn't make it. So that's what happened to the other 2. I'm assuming that the story they came up with for the 6 had to portray Kate in as good a light as possible for precisely the reason that they knew she would go to trial and they needed to give her as good a character as possible to ensure she didn't get jailed.

something that hasnt come up for maybe... 2 seasons?
so does this mean they will finally be explaining smokey, cos they forgot about that as well.

I might be being a bit dense, but how are the numbers back? The details for Dan were 2432, sure, but that's only a small part of the overall Lost numbers. It was on 11hz, and that's not in the numbers at all.

I enjoyed The Constant, though it didn't have quite the immediate impact of the previous few episodes. It was nice to see Desmond's time travel again, and the past, changing it up from the flash forwards we've been having.

Of the boat crew, Dan is definitely my favourite, but Frank seems alright too. The others are definitely very shifty.

I do like the fact that they are slowly opening up to the fact that the island has a time delay or something and making the characters themselves aware of it. Hopefully next week we'll see some more of the bigger picture.

actually, that wasnt the one - the ships log purchased by Whitmore was item #2342.
although the number you quote is that in reverse - which i suppose would fit in with this eps time travel theme.
there were a few other numbers in there - most notably the 8 years desmond went back into the past, and i seem to recall several other occurences of 11 in S1 as well.

Okay so it's finished now and caught me by surprise. Not sure if Jin is dead though.. the date on his grave was the same date as the plane crash...
